The Global Network Manager at Julius Bär oversees custodian and cash correspondent relationships, ensuring high-quality post-trade services and driving strategic improvements across the global network.

This position sits within the Global Network Management department, which handles the strategy and administration of the bank's custodian and cash correspondent partnerships. The role is central to the firm's success, requiring close collaboration across the entire organization to deliver top-tier post-trade services and adapt the network to changing market demands.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Agent Bank relationships through regular service meetings, reviews, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of service delivery.
  • Negotiate fees and manage costs, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and ensuring clear understanding of fee structures.
  • Oversee contract management, including negotiation and implementation of necessary documentation for relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize Front-to-Back processes across the network.
  • Monitor market and agent trends, sharing relevant insights and opportunities with stakeholders.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of custody rules to provide internal advisory and consultancy to support business and client needs.
  • Develop expertise in custody and payments to guide client-facing units on local account opening requirements, market rules, and service issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders involved in custody and cash correspondent services.
  • Respond promptly to market-specific queries and escalations from Business, Operations, or other teams.
  • Support colleagues with markets and tasks as needed within the team.
  • Contribute to special projects and initiatives as required.
  • Take necessary steps with internal and external colleagues to remediate issues and ensure market compliance.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in Network Management, Financial Institutions, Relationship Management, or a client-facing role in banking.
  • Proven track record in managing vendors and/or internal stakeholders, preferably in custodian and cash correspondent contexts.
  • General knowledge of custody operations, market rules, cash operations, and correspondent services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities under pressure, with a structured working style and a can-do mindset.
  • Ability to identify root causes of issues and implement remediation under pressure.
  • Proactive, self-motivated mindset with a willingness to take responsibility.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to resolve or guide the resolution of service issues.
  • Willingness to understand process mechanics and continuously develop expertise.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships and lead negotiations.
  • Strong team player able to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent data analysis and presentation skills, with an aptitude for technology as an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with an aptitude for technology as an advantage.
  • Proficiency in German and English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
