Lonza seeks a Head of Data, Digital and AI to lead enterprise strategy, drive innovation through scalable platforms, and ensure measurable business value from data and AI investments in Basel.
This C-suite position is responsible for defining and executing Lonza’s global strategy for data, digital, and artificial intelligence. As a member of the IT Leadership Team, the appointee will enable business growth and operational excellence by leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and scalable digital capabilities. The role ensures that digital investments deliver tangible value and fosters a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Define and steer the enterprise-wide strategy for data, digital, and AI, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals.
- Establish and lead the Digital & Data Office to drive governance, standards, data quality, and literacy across the company.
- Oversee the development of secure, compliant, and scalable cloud, data, and AI platforms.
- Industrialize AI solutions through robust governance, lifecycle management, and responsible practices to realize measurable value.
- Lead digital transformation and intelligent automation initiatives to improve business and operational processes.
- Implement a product and platform operating model that enhances collaboration between business and technology teams.
- Build and develop a high-performing global team while managing strategic partnerships and advising senior leadership on emerging opportunities.
- Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making to enhance productivity and business performance.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Over 15 years of leadership experience in data, digital, AI, analytics, or technology roles within complex global organizations.
- Proven track record of defining and delivering enterprise-wide data, AI, and digital transformation strategies.
- Strong experience in building and scaling cloud, data, analytics, and AI platforms that deliver business value.
- Expertise in data governance, enterprise architecture, operating model transformation, and digital capability development.
- Experience leading large-scale digital transformation, automation, and AI initiatives in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, CDMO, or other regulated environments.
- Deep understanding of AI governance, MLOps, data management, compliance, and quality requirements in regulated industries.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across global matrix organizations.
