Principal Data Innovation Specialist (RWD)

Roche seeks a Principal Data Innovation Specialist in Basel to lead AI and data engineering initiatives within the Real-World & Clinical Data Strategy team.

This position sits within the Real-World & Clinical Data Strategy team at Roche Product Development. The team focuses on creating and executing data strategies that maximize the potential of clinical, operational, and real-world information. The role is responsible for identifying, testing, and expanding new methods and technologies to change how data is used in product development.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and expand advanced AI solutions, with a specific focus on multi-agent development and orchestration structures.
• Oversee data engineering tasks to create, improve, and simplify data workflows while constructing scalable pipelines.
• Spearhead innovation efforts and manage complex analytical projects that investigate new data types and knowledge graph integrations.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product groups to pilot data innovations and embed advanced engineering pipelines.
• Develop low- and no-code analytics platforms to make multi-modal data more accessible to a wider audience.
• Act as an expert in innovation methodologies, providing guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues.
• Guarantee that all engineering and AI frameworks adhere to data privacy and security regulations.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
• At least six years of professional experience in data engineering, data science, or healthcare innovation environments.
• Demonstrated track record of implementing innovation pilots, including deep practical knowledge of AI-driven analytics and multi-agent architectures.
• Strong proficiency in agile development, product-thinking, and innovation lifecycle frameworks.
• Exceptional presentation and communication abilities to articulate complex technical ideas clearly.
