The Zurich University of the Arts seeks a Head of Major BA Contemporary Dance (70%) to lead the artistic, educational, and organizational aspects of the program in Zurich.
This position is responsible for the artistic, educational, and organizational management of the Bachelor of Arts Contemporary Dance study programme. The role is based in Zurich and requires on-site presence to oversee curriculum development, staff management, and student support.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Dance to further develop and design the curriculum, addressing artistic, pedagogical, and structural elements.
- Take full responsibility for the curriculum, study planning, and course progression.
- Manage teaching and research staff, as well as study coordination.
- Organize and oversee teaching activities, including productions and projects.
- Handle admissions procedures, such as auditions, and ensure degree qualifications.
- Advise and support students throughout their studies.
- Plan and coordinate internships in Switzerland and abroad.
- Manage budgetary responsibilities and resource planning.
- Ensure quality assurance and contribute to the strategic development of the programme.
- Represent the programme internally and externally, maintaining relevant networks.
- Teach dance technique in contemporary dance as part of the degree programme.
- Provide rehearsal direction and choreographic support for a diverse contemporary repertoire.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification.
- International artistic profile in contemporary dance.
- Excellent professional network.
- Several years of professional and leadership experience, ideally in a higher education context.
- Strong organisational and management skills.
- Excellent command of German and English.
- Sound IT user skills.
