Elan AG seeks a Senior Human Factors Engineer to join the Roche Diagnostics CXSD team, focusing on patient-centric design for next-generation medical devices in a hybrid role based in Switzerland.
This position integrates into the Roche Diagnostics Global Customer Experience and Solution Design Team. The primary objective is to embed customer perspectives into core decision-making processes, ensuring that the development of diagnostic tools for critical diseases remains seamless and centered on patient needs.
Responsibilities
- Represent patient and user perspectives during all product-related discussions.
- Define user profiles, tasks, hazard scenarios, usability risks, and associated requirements.
- Convert insights from UX research, user needs, and technical constraints into efficient user experiences.
- Produce usability documentation compliant with IEC 62366 standards.
- Organize and lead workshops with product teams to collect system-level data and align design outputs.
- Schedule and manage formative and summative usability tests, including coordination with external vendors.
- Draft, update, and audit Usability Engineering Files.
- Champion accessibility, quality, and usability standards for end-users.
- Mentor and guide junior designers within the team.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in applied Human Factor Engineering and Design Control Management.
- Proven background in the Usability Engineering process for medical devices involving both hardware and software components.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and document usability studies within the medical sector.
- Experience in gathering and analyzing physiological and behavioral data.
- Skill in creating, facilitating, and analyzing workshops with customers and stakeholders.
- Strong presentation abilities to effectively communicate ideas, solutions, and deliverables.
- Familiarity with IEC 62366 and current FDA guidance on human factors engineering.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
