The company seeks a Senior Human Factors Engineer for its Rotkreuz site to lead usability efforts for Roche Diagnostics, ensuring user-centered design and regulatory compliance.
This position serves as the primary human factors partner for Roche Diagnostics, operating within the Global Customer Experience and Solution Design Team. The role is dedicated to integrating customer insights into core decision-making processes, with the specific goal of redefining user interfaces and product design standards for medical devices.
Responsibilities
- Represent patient and user perspectives in all product development discussions
- Define user profiles, tasks, hazard scenarios, and usability risks
- Convert UX research and business needs into efficient user experiences
- Produce usability documentation compliant with IEC 62366 standards
- Facilitate workshops to gather system-level data and align design outputs
- Plan and coordinate formative and summative usability studies, including external vendors
- Maintain and review Usability Engineering Files
- Champion accessibility and quality for end-users
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance
Requirements
- Master's degree in Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, or a related technical discipline
- At least five years of experience in applied Human Factors Engineering and Design Control Management
- Proven track record in usability engineering for hardware and software medical devices
- Experience in planning, executing, and documenting medical usability studies
- Ability to collect and analyze physiological and behavioral data
- Skill in creating, facilitating, and analyzing workshops with stakeholders
- Strong presentation abilities to communicate ideas and solutions persuasively
- Knowledge of IEC 62366 and current FDA guidance on human factors
- Fluent English proficiency

- Familiarity with ISO 14971 and IEC 62304 standards
