Information Security Engineer, Product Security Engineering, Cloud CISO

Google seeks a Mid-level Information Security Engineer in Zürich to lead product security direction for Google Cloud, focusing on risk reduction and secure system design.

This position is responsible for defining the strategic direction of product security within Google Cloud. The engineer will collaborate closely with security, privacy, and engineering groups to identify risks across various security domains and implement measures to mitigate them.

Responsibilities

• Perform security evaluations, investigate and replicate vulnerabilities, architect secure systems and protocols, and create testing scripts and fuzzing tools.
• Establish and refine secure operational procedures while offering technical security advice to engineering and support personnel.
• Evaluate system designs for potential weaknesses through both periodic assessments and ongoing security engagements.
• Identify security flaws using methods such as reverse engineering, fuzzing, and static code analysis.
• Address discovered vulnerabilities by implementing repository updates, applying mitigations, and strengthening system defenses.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or possess equivalent hands-on professional experience.
• Have at least five years of experience conducting security assessments, performing security design reviews, or executing threat modeling.
• Demonstrate five years of professional experience in security engineering, including computer and network security as well as security protocols.
• Possess five years of coding proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language.

Nice to have

• Background in consulting or project management with a track record of meeting or surpassing objectives.
• Ability to build professional relationships across different organizational levels, supported by strong written and verbal communication skills and influence.
• Knowledge of both offensive and defensive security techniques.
