IT and Security Engineer

Flexion Robotics seeks an IT and Security Engineer in Zürich to build and secure IT infrastructure for its humanoid robotics development. This mid-level, full-time role focuses on system administration, security hardening, and network management for a growing team.

As the first dedicated IT and security hire, this role is responsible for elevating the company's IT infrastructure to support the development of advanced humanoid robots and AI. The engineer will work alongside a team of senior software engineers to establish robust systems and security protocols.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete IT lifecycle for a team of approximately 50 employees, including establishing clear procedures for onboarding, offboarding, access control, and technical support.
• Coordinate and manage external IT contractors to provide operational assistance when necessary.
• Drive security enhancements by implementing systems to manage Linux laptops, workstations, and servers, covering provisioning, patching, hardening, posture assessment, and inventory tracking.
• Develop and enforce practical security policies while deploying high-impact controls to safeguard the company's intellectual property.
• Maintain and optimize the UniFi network infrastructure to ensure high uptime, strong security, robust connections to robots, and effective Wi-Fi segmentation, firewalling, and guest access.
• Manage foundational AWS security measures, including organizational and IAM hygiene, VPC and security group configurations, and EC2 lifecycle guardrails, in collaboration with the engineering team.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in IT or security roles, such as engineering or system administration, with a strong history of owning IT environments.
• Proficient in Linux administration, including configuration, automation (e.g., Ansible), system hardening, updates, and troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi, and firewall concepts.
• A practical security mindset with the ability to define policies, prioritize controls, and implement scalable security improvements.
• Comfortable operating in a high-ownership capacity, capable of setting direction, delivering results, documenting processes, and iterating on improvements.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with security tools such as EDR, vulnerability scanning, centralized logging, secrets management, and password managers.
• Experience managing identity and access management in a corporate setting, particularly with Google Workspace, including joiner/mover/leaver workflows and permission design.
• Understanding of AWS security fundamentals, including IAM best practices, VPC/security groups, baseline monitoring/alerting, and secure EC2 lifecycle practices.
• Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash/Python) to reduce repetitive operational work.
