Flink, a Zurich-based robotics startup from ETH Zurich, seeks a Mid-level Field Robotics Engineer to deploy and support autonomous robots in production environments. The role involves on-site installations, system testing, operator training, and continuous improvement based on field feedback.
Flink Robotics, founded from the Computational Robotics Lab at ETH Zurich, is developing next-generation plug-and-play autonomous robots for material handling. The Field Robotics Engineer serves as the company’s on-site representative, ensuring smooth deployment, rigorous testing, and ongoing optimization of robotic systems at customer locations and industry events.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, configure, and test robots both in the lab and at customer sites to support system iteration and improvement
- Lead planning, coordination, and execution of on-site installations, acting as technical point of contact and ensuring seamless handover to clients
- Operate the autonomy system and fine-tune perception and motion modules in real-world production settings
- Train operators and deliver hands-on support during deployment phases, gathering field insights to inform product development
- Diagnose and fix complex hardware and software problems, both remotely and on-site
- Represent Flink at customer demos, pilot projects, trade shows, and industry events
- Collect and document field data to share with engineering teams, enabling new use cases and enhanced reliability
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mechatronics, sensors, networking, and basic control principles
- Proven experience in commissioning complex electromechanical or robotic systems in the field
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues
- Willingness to travel and deploy robots in production environments
- Demonstrated skill in managing stakeholders across technical and operational teams
Nice to have
- Previous experience deploying robots in real-world settings
- Proficiency in German or other languages
- Valid driver’s license
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems
