ROV/Robot Maintenance & Repair Technician - 100%

Tethys Robotics seeks a Mid-level ROV/Robot Maintenance & Repair Technician in Zürich to ensure underwater robotic systems remain field-ready through maintenance, repair, and testing.

As an ETH Zürich spin-off, Tethys Robotics builds advanced underwater robotic solutions for inspection tasks in difficult environments. This position ensures these complex systems stay reliable and ready for deployment by handling both scheduled upkeep and corrective repairs.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned and reactive maintenance on underwater robotic units following tests, demos, or field use.
• Troubleshoot and fix issues within mechanical, electrical, and firmware components.
• Carry out in-water functional checks, calibration, and validation after service work.
• Record all maintenance actions, fault details, and repair results in compliance with quality and safety protocols.
• Oversee spare parts stock, monitor levels, and manage procurement needs.
• Pack and prepare systems for shipping after maintenance cycles are complete.
• Work with engineering staff to spot recurring failure trends and suggest design or process enhancements.
• Conduct final in-water production tests.
• Assist with assembly and integration during busy production periods.

Requirements

• Technical degree in electronics, mechatronics, automation, mechanical engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Practical background in maintaining, repairing, or producing electromechanical or robotic equipment.
• Strong grasp of electrical circuits, wiring, connectors, sealing methods, and component assembly.
• Skill in systematically identifying faults using technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
• Highly organized with attention to detail for managing work orders, inventory, and records.
• Commitment to taking full responsibility for assigned tasks to maintain quality standards.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with engineers and other teams.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and German.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work near water and perform in-water testing.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring or supervising apprentices or interns.
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities for complex mechatronic systems.
• Background in firmware flashing or basic embedded system programming.
• Knowledge of waterproofing, pressure vessels, or marine hardware.
• Familiarity with AUVs, ROVs, drones, or other robotic platforms.
• Experience using 3D printing technology.
