Gravisrobotics seeks a mid-level Robotics Software Engineer in Zürich to develop planning and control software for autonomous heavy construction machines.
This position sits within the Autonomy team, focusing on the planning and control systems for heavy machinery operating in the field. The role covers the full lifecycle of software development, taking features from initial concept through to robust deployment on real excavators.
Responsibilities
- Develop, prototype, and implement planning and control software for autonomous heavy machinery in real-world construction settings.
- Guide features from initial concept through field deployment, debugging, and robustification on actual robots.
- Create and refine testing procedures, simulation tools, and performance metrics.
- Work closely with experts in perception, controls, platform, and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience writing production-quality C++ or Python in a Linux development environment.
- Proven experience developing, integrating, and debugging software on real robotic systems.
- Proficiency in both C++ and Python.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English is a requirement for all roles.
Nice to have
- Experience in control, motion planning, task planning, machine learning, or reinforcement learning.
- Experience with ROS2 or other middlewares.
- Experience deploying software on autonomous vehicles or mobile robots in the field.
- Contributed in the past to CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with feature-flagged deployments, staged rollouts, long-lived platforms, or maintaining backwards compatibility.
- Familiarity with or interest in utilizing AI coding tools.
