Senior Robotics Software Engineer (Zürich, 100%)

Loki Robotics seeks a Senior Robotics Software Engineer in Zürich to build its core software stack, covering autonomy, tooling, and cloud integration.

As the first dedicated robotics software engineer at Loki Robotics, this position offers significant influence over the engineering culture. The role spans the entire stack, defining interactions between developers, operators, and customers. It provides the flexibility to remain a versatile generalist or to specialize in leading specific subsystems as the team expands.

Responsibilities

• Construct the core robotics software stack, ranging from low-level drivers and behavior trees to health monitoring and configuration management.
• Establish pipelines for ingesting data and telemetry from robots into cloud infrastructure.
• Develop internal utilities including teleoperation interfaces, fleet management systems, and data visualization dashboards.
• Implement classical autonomy features such as 3D mapping, localization, and autonomous navigation.
• Lead CI/CD processes, test frameworks, and developer tooling, setting standards for memory safety and architectural design.

Requirements

• At least three years of professional software engineering experience, ideally within Robotics, Automotive, or Aerospace sectors.
• Proficiency in modern C++ and Python.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including systemd, time synchronization, scheduling, and TCP/UDP networking.
• Proven ability to debug complex systems using core dumps, gdb, and profiling tools like perf and ftrace.
• Experience with test automation, including unit and integration testing.
• Background in working with embedded platforms and integrating sensors.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Rust, ROS2, or Zenoh.
• Experience conducting hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and simulation-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
• Knowledge of NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
• Understanding of common robotics algorithms such as SLAM, point cloud processing, control theory, and computer vision.
