Loki Robotics seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Zürich to design and deploy core robotic systems for commercial cleaning, focusing on electromechanical integration and manufacturing readiness.
This position focuses on the end-to-end development of mechanical systems for a novel commercial cleaning robot. The engineer will translate first-principles design concepts into functional hardware, covering everything from initial ideation to final deployment, while supporting the industrialization process needed to scale production.
Responsibilities
- Develop custom electromechanical components, including robot arms, grippers, automatic tool changers, and docking stations.
- Design mechanical systems specific to cleaning tasks, such as end-effector tools and associated fluid handling systems.
- Lead Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing to validate the performance and durability of mechanical assemblies.
- Support industrialization activities to enable the mass manufacturing of hundreds of units.
Requirements
- At least three years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within robotics, automotive, or aerospace sectors.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling, with practical experience using tools like Onshape.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes for both metals and plastics.
- Hands-on experience with robotics actuation components, such as BLDC motors, gearboxes, encoders, and torque sensors.
- Knowledge of fluid system design, including water pumps, valves, and nozzles.
- Ability to independently write basic software for test benches using Python or C++.
Nice to have
- Experience in designing custom printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Background in building articulated robots, such as arms, legs, quadrupeds, or humanoids.
- Track record of contributing to hardware products that have been shipped in quantities of hundreds to customers.
