Anthropic seeks a Senior Security Software Engineer in Zürich to build Linux kernel-level security systems for its AI infrastructure. Anthropic’s Detection Platform team is developing the next-generation Linux endpoint security system to protect its AI research and production infrastructure. This high-ownership role on a small team involves designing systems that operate across a growing fleet with minimal performance impact, collaborating closely with security and infrastructure engineers, and helping shape the technical direction of endpoint detection.
Responsibilities
- Develop kernel-level security detections for Anthropic’s AI platform, including eBPF-based sensors for Linux endpoints
- Create scalable data pipelines to ingest and process security telemetry across the infrastructure
- Design monitoring solutions for production systems that reduce performance impact on machine learning workloads
- Prototype new security tools and analytics, including integrating Claude into detection and response workflows
- Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to turn requirements into reliable, maintainable systems
- Support the Security team’s growth through code reviews, mentorship, and hiring efforts
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability
Requirements
- Software engineering background with focus on security, infrastructure, Linux internals, or operating systems
- Ability to write secure, maintainable code in Rust or C/C++
- Strong grasp of operating system internals and OS security fundamentals
- Experience with test-driven development and CI/CD processes
- Track record of translating security requirements into technical solutions with security teams
- Proven ability to lead technical projects independently and clarify ambiguous problems
Nice to have
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, especially in security, infrastructure, or OS development
- Direct experience with eBPF and kernel-level instrumentation
- Experience with detection-as-code workflows
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- Background in building security tooling from scratch
- Experience with security monitoring systems such as SIEM, log aggregation, or EDR
- Experience in detection engineering or security operations
- Background in SOAR platform or security automation development
- Experience with data lake or database architecture, or query optimization for large datasets
- Experience designing APIs or internal platforms
- Track record of applying machine learning or AI to security challenges
- Experience scaling security operations in fast-growing environments
- Experience in hiring, mentorship, and fostering engineering culture within security teams
