Senior Security Analyst (f/m/x/d, hybrid set up, 80-100%)

Swiss Re seeks a Senior Security Analyst in Zürich to lead cyber defence operations, incident response, and team mentorship within a hybrid work model.

The Cyber Defence team at Swiss Re is responsible for maintaining the company's security posture by detecting threats and responding to incidents. This role supports the Group Security & Technology Platforms by providing secure and scalable foundations for the business while mentoring analysts and acting as a deputy to the Head of Monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Create detection content and lead incident investigations to refine response methods.
  • Track emerging threats, manage significant cyber events, and apply industry standards while coaching junior analysts.
  • Direct security operations using advanced monitoring tools to identify alerts, detect incidents in real time, and coordinate response efforts.
  • Contain security breaches and execute remediation plans.
  • Maintain high operational standards and stay informed about evolving cybersecurity trends.
  • Mentor cybersecurity analysts, offering technical guidance and supporting their professional development.
  • Serve as a deputy to the Head of Monitoring.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls to strengthen organizational security.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to handle urgent issues outside standard hours.

Requirements

  • At least five years of cybersecurity experience, preferably in a SOC or CSIRT environment.
  • Strong understanding of the current threat landscape, offensive techniques, OWASP, and frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK® and the Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Experience with malware analysis, exploit analysis, or reverse engineering.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on detail.
  • Ability to present complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven stakeholder management and leadership experience.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Kusto.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices and experience with Azure or Amazon AWS.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST, ISO, or CIS controls.
  • Experience with security tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and DLP solutions.
  • Understanding of threat intelligence.
  • Relevant certifications such as CEH, CISM, CCSP, or CISSP.

  • Hybrid work model with a 50:50 split between remote work and office presence (2–3 days per week).

  • Base salary between CHF 128,000 and CHF 192,000 for a full-time position.
