Internship MSAT Material Management / MSAT Process Expert

Full-time internship at Lonza in Visp focusing on material management and process expertise for microbial manufacturing operations within an MSAT framework.

This internship places candidates within the MSAT team to act as process experts for microbial upstream and downstream processes. The position supports project teams in raw material selection, single-use assembly qualification, and resolving material quality issues, while providing hands-on experience in material management and process activities for clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with material management tasks in microbial cGMP manufacturing
• Help address material quality problems and implement mitigation actions
• Participate in designing and qualifying single-use assemblies
• Collaborate with stakeholders like MSAT, QA, QC, Production, and Supply Chain during document preparation and review
• Track activity progress and identify potential delays or roadblocks
• Report issues and risks promptly to the MSAT process expert lead
• Support data review, trending, and analysis related to material management
• Contribute to MSAT Process Expert activities across project lifecycles, from planning to completion
• Assist in resolving manufacturing process issues while adhering to regulatory requirements
• Help execute GMP risk analysis for manufacturing processes
• Compile process-related deviations and change requests timely
• Participate in continuous improvement projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related field
• Strong interest in microbial manufacturing processes and lifecycle management
• Basic understanding of bioprocess fundamentals, including microbial upstream/downstream processes and their impact on product quality
• High attention to detail and interest in technical documentation and data integrity
• Interest in GMP environments and regulated manufacturing
• Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, interacting with Manufacturing, Quality, and QC
• Structured, analytical mindset with problem-solving orientation
• Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
