Internship in Manufacturing Science and Technologies at Merck (Schweiz) AG in Corsier-sur-Vevey. Gain hands-on experience in biotech processes, process troubleshooting, and GMP compliance within the MSAT team.

This internship is part of the MSAT Process Expertise & Laboratory team based in Corsier-sur-Vevey. The team of 15 to 20 specialists focuses on process control strategies and technical support for manufacturing. The role allows you to build expertise in biotech processes, from upstream production to purification, while learning about biopharmaceutical production, quality management, and GMP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with process troubleshooting and investigations.
  • Conduct laboratory studies and execute related experiments.
  • Engage in projects aimed at improving manufacturing processes.
  • Update documentation when process changes occur.
  • Manage and ship process samples.
  • Support the implementation of process changes in both GMP and laboratory settings.
  • Follow the introduction of new technologies in the manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in the implementation of small-scale processes.
  • Improve existing models to support GMP manufacturing USP and DSP processes.
  • Perform troubleshooting and introduce new technologies.
  • Support the MSAT Laboratory in implementing new technologies, such as single-use equipment and new chromatography resins.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or Engineering program in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong motivation to learn about biopharmaceutical manufacturing in a GMP environment, including scientific, technical, and quality aspects.
  • Highly motivated, curious, autonomous, and result-driven.
  • Excellent team player with strong oral and written communication skills in English and French.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical tools and Design of Experiments (DOE). Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Previous experience with mammalian cell culture, biotechnology processes for monoclonal antibody production, and/or antibody purification techniques.
  • Ability to interpret data based on statistical analysis.
  • High level of motivation, good analytical skills, and willingness to work in a laboratory setting.
