Internship : Secured urban data exchange platform

Elca Informatik AG seeks an intern in Pully to evolve a secure Urban Data Exchange platform from demonstrator to MVP, focusing on security, reliability, and AI integration.

This internship builds upon several years of iterative development to transition a secure, federated Urban Data Exchange platform from its current demonstrator stage into a robust, production-ready minimum viable product. The role centers on strengthening the architectural foundations, enhancing security models, and integrating advanced data discovery capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate existing features and reinforce the underlying architectural structure.
• Harden the system architecture and stabilize components to ensure readiness for production environments.
• Boost system reliability, monitoring, observability, and DevOps automation processes.
• Strengthen the security framework by implementing zero-trust and data-at-source principles.
• Integrate a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system to enable metadata harvesting, enrichment, semantic search, and intelligent data discovery.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in programming with modern tooling, specifically Python and Go.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems, security models, and zero-trust principles.
• Experience with open-source technologies including Keycloak, OPA, OpenMetadata, PostgreSQL, Redis, and containerization ecosystems.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, with a preference for Microsoft Azure experience.

Nice to have

• Motivation to explore advanced security paradigms, including Zero Trust Architecture and service-mesh-based security.
• Interest in AI/ML, including working with LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Strong motivation for system design, architecture, and secure data-processing workflows in decentralized environments.
