This internship is based in the Lausanne area and focuses on the production-grade Elios 3 drone platform. The position aims to advance autonomous robotic capabilities, ultimately contributing to safer operations in hazardous environments and improving lives through robotics innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop techniques for structuring and representing data about complex environments and their physical layouts.
  • Explore methods to merge perception data with domain-specific context to enhance intelligent system decision-making.
  • Create AI-driven approaches that allow robotic systems to interpret and reason about environmental data for autonomous tasks.
  • Integrate developed solutions into the current robotics software stack and validate performance using simulation and real-world testing.
  • Establish and evaluate metrics to measure system efficiency, robustness, and overall operational behavior.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program in Robotics, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Prior experience in robotics, machine learning, spatial AI, semantic mapping, scene graphs, or similar areas.
  • Proficient programming abilities in Python.
  • Knowledge of contemporary AI techniques, including vision-language models, LLM fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), graph-based representations, semantic mapping, or deep learning frameworks.
  • Ability to read and implement concepts from scientific publications.
  • Strong analytical skills, a hands-on approach, and curiosity for tackling open-ended research problems.
  • Fluent English communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with robotics hardware.
  • Proficiency in French or other additional languages.
