Flyability seeks an Intern for Robotics Engineering focused on autonomous navigation for the Elios 3 drone. The role bridges research and deployment in hazardous indoor environments.

This internship focuses on enhancing the autonomous navigation and environmental awareness of the Elios 3 drone platform. The position serves as a bridge between theoretical robotics research and practical, real-world application within the company's indoor inspection technology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and build methods to boost autonomous navigation and environmental perception for robotic systems.
  • Create and refine algorithms for autonomous operations, ensuring a balance between reliability, efficiency, and mission goals.
  • Merge new features into the current navigation and autonomy software, then test performance through simulations and physical trials.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate system performance, focusing on robustness, efficiency, reliability, and general behavior.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Robotics, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Prior hands-on experience in robotics, particularly in areas like autonomous navigation, exploration, motion planning, or SLAM.
  • Proficient in C++ and Python programming, with practical knowledge of ROS1 and ROS2.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and test robotics algorithms on physical hardware.
  • Strong grasp of path planning, state estimation, mapping, probabilistic robotics, or optimization techniques.
  • Fluent command of the English language.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience working with drones.
  • Fluency in French or additional languages.
