IT Cloud Engineer (a), 80-100%

Bachem seeks an IT Cloud Engineer in Bubendorf to support global IT operations and organic growth through AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, and IaC automation.

This position sits within the Global IT team, where the primary objective is to facilitate the company's continuous organic expansion. The engineer will ensure that cloud infrastructure remains secure, compliant, and reliable while supporting business and regulatory needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cloud operations, ensuring strict adherence to security protocols, compliance standards, and internal policies.
• Create, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions, AWS Code Pipeline, and Jenkins.
• Build and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Uphold cloud engineering standards by conducting peer reviews, enforcing governance, and promoting best practices.
• Deploy monitoring, alerting, and observability tools to guarantee system stability and optimal performance.
• Automate routine operational tasks such as patch management, backup verification, and compliance audits.
• Partner with application owners, IT colleagues, and the CISO office to align technical solutions with business and regulatory goals.
• Assist in change management procedures, including CAB involvement and the creation of technical documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members while contributing to the development of cloud governance policies and operational runbooks.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or comparable practical experience.
• Minimum of three years of hands-on experience engineering AWS cloud solutions in production settings.
• Prior work experience within regulated sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code, particularly Terraform, along with scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Deep understanding of AWS security services and compliance frameworks including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate level or higher) or demonstrated equivalent expertise.
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and cloud-native technologies like Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery strategies, business continuity planning, and hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• AWS DevOps or Security certifications.
• Experience with AWS Bedrock.
• Familiarity with Veeva Vault or other validated systems.
• Understanding of NIS2 regulations.
• German language skills are considered an advantage.
