Retinai seeks a Cloud Engineer (AWS) for a full-time remote role based in Bern, CH. The position focuses on maintaining secure, scalable AWS environments and driving infrastructure improvements within a healthcare AI context.
This position plays a central role in ensuring the platform delivers a secure, scalable, and seamless user experience. The engineer will oversee cloud operations, optimize infrastructure, and integrate new technologies to support the company's healthcare solutions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve highly available, secure, and scalable AWS cloud environments.
- Manage the cloud infrastructure backlog to handle urgent tasks and plan future enhancements.
- Implement monitoring and observability tools to proactively resolve availability, performance, or security concerns.
- Take ownership of daily cloud operational tasks after learning the existing infrastructure.
- Evaluate new technologies and services for production readiness to ensure stable integration.
- Create and update documentation for cloud processes, procedures, and architectures.
- Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to assess and optimize current infrastructure.
- Participate in out-of-hours cloud deployments once or twice monthly.
- Conduct proof of concepts for new AWS services, third-party tools, and technologies to drive infrastructure improvements.
Requirements
- Entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset with a proactive problem-solving approach.
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience with AWS cloud services.
- Proficiency in core AWS services such as IAM, S3, KMS, RDS, VPC, ECS, and EC2.
- Experience with multi-account and multi-region AWS production environments and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Strong hands-on experience with IaC tools, preferably Terraform.
- Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or Node.js.
- Knowledge of cloud security principles and services like AWS WAF, GuardDuty, Config, and CloudTrail.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools, preferably GitLab.
- Experience with software version control and Git.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPC, VPC Peering, Subnets, and Load Balancing.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, and the ELK stack.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- Interest in staying updated with new AWS services and integrating advancements.
- Ability to work in a flexible startup environment and take initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Familiarity with industry best practices in cloud architecture.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Availability to work during Central European Time (CET) business hours.
