Bachem seeks a Mid-level DevOps/Platform Engineer in Bubendorf to build and operate an Internal Developer Platform using GitHub Enterprise and cloud infrastructure in a hybrid role.
This position sits within the Global IT department and is tasked with creating an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that enables standardized, self-service application delivery. The engineer will build, operate, and scale this platform to serve as the foundational backbone for the entire organization, ensuring it meets the needs of developers and stakeholders alike.
Responsibilities
- Construct, automate, and manage the Internal Developer Platform leveraging GitHub Enterprise and cloud environments.
- Design and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions to provision resources, environments, and security guardrails.
- Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines along with reusable workflow templates using GitHub Actions.
- Enhance platform scalability by refining reusable templates, guardrails, and self-service features.
- Guarantee platform reliability, compliance, and security through monitoring, observability, incident response, and patching.
- Implement platform governance covering access management, policies, secrets handling, and cost awareness.
- Facilitate discussions and drive alignment across stakeholder groups to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
- Partner with developers to coach newcomers, enable professional developers, and adapt communication.
- Create documentation, guidelines and onboarding materials for platform adoption.
- Collaborate with the Platform Owner to translate the platform roadmap into technical solutions.
Requirements
- Degree in IT or equivalent practical experience in DevOps or software engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience with DevOps or a closely related software engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise, including GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines and repository governance.
- Solid experience automating infrastructure-as-code deployments (Terraform) via GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, targeting Azure and/or AWS.
- Fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with regulated / GxP environments.
- German language skills are a plus.
