DevOps Engineer Backend

Airapps is seeking a Mid-level DevOps Engineer Backend in Zürich to design, automate, and maintain backend infrastructure while collaborating with developers to enhance deployment efficiency and scalability.

This position focuses on building and sustaining the backend infrastructure through automation and design. The engineer will partner closely with development teams to streamline deployment workflows and ensure the systems can scale effectively.

Responsibilities

• Create and sustain CI/CD pipelines to handle automated building, testing, and releasing.
• Oversee and tune cloud environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code solutions such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Run and administer containerized workloads via Docker and Kubernetes.
• Track system metrics, locate performance issues, and boost overall reliability.
• Enforce security standards covering identity access, logging, and vulnerability checks.
• Collaborate with developers to resolve infrastructure challenges and speed up releases.
• Manage cloud spending and resource allocation to maintain cost efficiency and growth potential.
• Handle automated provisioning, configuration updates, and routine maintenance tasks.
• Keep current with the latest DevOps trends, tools, and industry standards.

Requirements

• Possess at least three years of background in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or ArgoCD.
• Have practical experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless architectures.
• Be skilled in Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Show hands-on capability with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Maintain strong understanding of Linux environments, networking protocols, and security protocols.
• Write automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Go.
• Be familiar with monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog.
• Understand principles of cloud cost management, scalability, and high-availability design.
• Exhibit strong analytical abilities and thrive in agile, rapid-paced settings.
