Junior National Pistol Coach

The Schweizer Schiesssportverband SSV is seeking a Junior National Pistol Coach based in Biel for a part-time, on-site role. The position focuses on training the junior national squad, coaching at competitions, and supporting youth development within the pistol division.

This position is based at the national performance centre in Biel and centres on the development of the junior national pistol squad. The successful candidate will oversee training sessions, provide coaching support during national and international events, and work closely with regional coaches to identify and nurture emerging talent. The role also involves handling various operational duties within the pistol division and potentially managing the Rapid Fire Division.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training programmes for the junior national squad at the national performance centre in Biel.
• Provide coaching and supervision during national and international shooting competitions.
• Coordinate with coaches at regional performance centres to align development strategies.
• Identify promising athletes through talent scouting initiatives within the youth development framework.
• Support and participate in projects aimed at youth development.
• Handle operational tasks within the pistol division alongside the Head of the Pistol Division.
• Oversee the Rapid Fire Division for juniors and elite athletes on an optional basis.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of Olympic pistol disciplines, particularly rapid fire pistol.
• Proven experience in elite sports, either as a former athlete or a coach.
• A professional coaching certification or an internationally recognised equivalent; alternatively, a J+S Level A qualification with a commitment to obtaining professional certification.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities to lead and inspire young athletes.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours and travel internationally.
• A strong drive to collaborate with athletes and coaches to achieve shared success.
• High personal dedication, a collaborative approach, and full commitment to shooting sports.
• Fluency in a Swiss national language (written and spoken) and good spoken English; other languages are a plus.
• A valid driving licence category B.
