Lab Technician – Synthetic Chemistry

RMIT Professional Resources AG seeks a Junior Lab Technician for synthetic chemistry in Basel. This 100% hybrid role involves lab synthesis, process development support, and documentation on an 18-month fixed-term contract.

The company is looking for a Lab Technician to join a client in the pharmaceutical sector based in Basel. The position focuses on executing synthesis experiments and supporting process development activities. It is a full-time, hybrid role with an initial 18-month fixed-term contract that may be extended.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory synthesis experiments in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to project goals and schedules.
• Assist with process development by planning experiments, gathering data, and analyzing results.
• Work closely with process chemists and other teams to evaluate findings and determine subsequent actions.
• Keep precise electronic laboratory records and documentation following good documentation practices.
• Help with scale-up efforts, troubleshooting, and small-scale manufacturing, including both GMP and non-GMP batches as needed.
• Ensure laboratory equipment, analytical instruments, and workspaces remain safe, operational, and compliant.

Requirements

• An apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician or an equivalent scientific technical qualification.
• Hands-on experience in synthetic chemistry and general laboratory work.
• Background in supporting process development, reaction scale-up, or manufacturing tasks.
• Solid knowledge of laboratory safety standards, HSE requirements, and compliant working methods.
• Strong abilities in documentation, organization, and data handling.
