This position supports a mid-size Swiss firm near Basel that specializes in environmental science, ecotoxicology, and analytical chemistry. The primary purpose of the role is to conduct laboratory screening studies to track the environmental fate of agrochemical research candidates within soil, water, and sediment matrices.
Responsibilities
- Execute laboratory screening tests to monitor the environmental fate of agrochemical candidates in various matrices including soil, water, and sediment.
- Prepare calibration, application, and stock solutions required for testing.
- Handle study samples and apply test chemicals according to protocols.
- Extract, prepare, and analyze samples using LC-MS/MS and high-resolution LC-MS techniques.
- Calculate test results and document findings in Excel spreadsheets.
- Evaluate LCMS data to identify potential metabolites formed during studies.
- Carry out general laboratory duties and administrative tasks in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
Requirements
- Completion of an apprenticeship as a lab technician or a BSc degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in the agrochemical, chemical, or pharmaceutical sectors, research institutes, or GLP-certified CROs.
- Ability to communicate fluently in German and/or French.
