A junior Laboratory Technician position in Aquatic Ecotoxicology at Eurofins Electric & Electronic Product Testing AG in Witterswil. The role involves conducting fish testing studies under GLP standards within a multicultural, science-driven environment.

The company operates a Contract Research Organisation specializing in environmental safety and aquatic ecotoxicology. This position sits within the Ecotox Biology department, where the primary objective is to execute global field and laboratory studies while strictly adhering to Good Experimental Practice (GEP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Execute static, semi-static, and flow-through assays involving fish species, following OECD guidelines and internal SOPs.
  • Configure, operate, and upkeep automated flow-through apparatuses.
  • Manage multiple fish species throughout their life cycles, including selection, observation, biometrical data recording, and collection of biological samples like blood.
  • Maintain aquaria of various dimensions to ensure efficient sample throughput.
  • Prepare and administer chemical solutions across different test setups.
  • Collect samples and measure biological, physical-chemical, and physiological indicators.
  • Input data into specialized software platforms.
  • Draft or update Standard Operating Procedures, calibrate instruments, and perform routine laboratory maintenance.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid animal handling license (LTK1 or LTK 2).
  • Fluent proficiency in English.
  • Capability to work precisely and meet deadlines within a highly regulated environment governed by detailed SOPs.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results prior to specified due dates.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related scientific field.
  • Two years of experience working in a GLP-regulated setting.
  • Two years of experience conducting fish testing.
  • Two years of experience performing OECD fish tests within a GLP-regulated CRO.
  • Familiarity with OECD-based fish testing protocols in a GLP environment.
  • Knowledge of fish husbandry, handling, sampling (blood and tissues), and testing.
  • Understanding of flow-through system maintenance.
  • Proficiency in EIA is advantageous.
  • Fluent German language skills are preferred.
  • French language skills are an asset.
