Lead - Pattern Engineer

On seeks a Lead Pattern Engineer in Zürich to bridge 2D design and 3D production, ensuring precise fit and quality for inline footwear collections.

This position serves as the critical link between initial 2D concepts and final 3D footwear realities, with a primary focus on elevating the quality of shoe uppers. The role is responsible for guaranteeing that inline footwear collections meet exact standards for fit, performance, and overall quality.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce comprehensive pattern standards for inline footwear lines.
• Work closely with Last Engineering to ensure upper patterns align perfectly with footwear lasts.
• Manage the transition from digital designs to physical prototypes, overseeing refinement processes.
• Collaborate with Product Designers, Upper Engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to established standards.
• Develop documentation for pattern standards and conduct training sessions for internal teams.
• Evaluate inline footwear patterns against current standards and integrate industry advancements.
• Optimize pattern nesting, material yield, and cutting efficiency to reduce waste and support sustainability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop creation teams.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of hands-on experience in footwear pattern engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D pattern-making software and CAD tools.
• Deep knowledge of footwear upper materials, textiles, and modern construction techniques.
• Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot complex fit, comfort, and manufacturability challenges.
• Proven track record of collaborating with Tier 1 development facilities and overseas manufacturing partners.
• Willingness to travel internationally to oversee sampling and troubleshoot technical issues on the factory floor.
