Technical Designer (icebreaker)

VF International is seeking a mid-level Technical Designer for its icebreaker product line based in Stabio, Switzerland. The role focuses on creating digital and physical patterns, managing 3D prototyping, and ensuring precise product execution from concept to finished goods.

This position supports the product creation team by developing tools and patterns that guide the icebreaker line through the go-to-market process. The designer works closely with cross-functional partners to align technical execution with design intent, while maintaining a long-term view across multiple seasons and supporting the Manager of Technical Design in achieving optimal product fit.

Responsibilities

• Convert creative ideas into precise physical and digital patterns using advanced techniques and CAD software.
• Create 3D digital samples for virtual fitting and iterative design adjustments.
• Work with internal teams to refine patterns, solve fit issues, and apply innovative technical solutions.
• Coordinate between internal departments and external partners to merge design aesthetics with technical accuracy.
• Oversee project schedules for seasonal and non-seasonal items using agile project management approaches.
• Keep the digital pattern and virtual sample library up to date.
• Organize fit sessions, conduct pre-fitting measurements, and prepare for sample reviews.
• Deliver pattern revisions promptly so vendors can produce goods efficiently.
• Review market feedback and wear-test results to improve existing product lines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fashion Technology, Industrial Design, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong computer literacy skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with CAD systems such as Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex, plus 3D simulation tools like CLO 3D or Browzwear.
• Several years of experience in technical pattern engineering or digital product creation within the apparel sector.

Nice to have

• Advanced degrees or certifications in digital patternmaking and 3D prototyping.
