Global Apparel Designer

The company is seeking a Global Apparel Designer to conceptualize and execute creative projects for its global product and creative department, focusing on men's and women's apparel using natural fibres.

This position sits within the Global Apparel Product Creation team at icebreaker. The role focuses on developing creative solutions for the global product and creative department, covering both men's and women's apparel lines. The company operates on the principle that nature offers superior performance alternatives to synthetic materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop creative concepts and execute projects to support the global product and creative department.
• Produce items that align with cost and value targets.
• Collaborate regularly with category and product management teams to ensure the final output matches the target audience.
• Guarantee that designs are practical and satisfy merchandising objectives.
• Develop styles that reflect current trends while maintaining brand identity.
• Design technical garments utilizing natural materials.
• Conduct trend, market, and competitor analysis to guide seasonal storytelling and colour direction, creating mood and concept boards.
• Partner closely with the Product Director, Senior Design Manager, Developer, Tech Designer, and Merchandiser on specific categories and styles.
• Assist in the design, development, approval, and application of all trims.
• Work with the product development team to guarantee style, fit, quality, and detail requirements are met.
• Adhere to the product calendar for accurate and timely delivery.
• Enable quick decision-making during prototype reviews and revisions.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in apparel product design with comparable brands or organizations.
• Fluent English is mandatory.
• A portfolio showcasing diverse skills, design and development knowledge, relevance, and consumer awareness.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with 3D Product Creation Software such as Browswear or CLO.
• Competence in Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of construction and pattern cutting executions.
• A University Bachelor or Master’s degree in Fashion / Product Design or equivalent is required.
