Linux Engineer

SUMMIT RECRUITMENT AG seeks a Senior Linux Engineer for a remote contract role in Zürich. The position focuses on RHEL7 to RHEL8 migrations, DevOps automation, and 24/7 incident support within a financial sector environment.

This senior-level position is primarily dedicated to executing the migration from RHEL7 to RHEL8. The engineer will apply deep Linux and DevOps expertise to troubleshoot incidents, automate infrastructure tasks, and ensure system stability within a high-performance environment.

Responsibilities

• Create automation scripts and solutions utilizing bash and standard GNU utilities.
• Ensure optimal system performance and maintain high availability standards.
• Oversee system configurations, including the application of patches and version upgrades.
• Record incident details and document operational best practices for future reference.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to address urgent system issues.
• Build, maintain, and manage Ansible playbooks alongside OpenShift container environments.
• Automate routine infrastructure management tasks to improve efficiency.

Requirements

• Possess at least seven years of hands-on experience with RHEL distributions and system migration projects.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency in Ansible, Jenkins, Git, and bash scripting.
• Have prior work experience within financial, banking, or trading industry settings.
• Maintain mandatory professional proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with monitoring platforms such as Nagios or Icinga.
• Ability to communicate in German is considered an advantage.
