Medical Device Technical Lead

Roche seeks a Senior Medical Device Technical Lead in Basel to oversee industrialization and sustaining engineering for drug-device combinations, ensuring reliable production from development through commercialization.

This position plays a central role in the industrialization and sustaining engineering of medical devices and drug-device combination products. The primary objective is to guarantee that production capabilities and supply chain readiness are established and maintained, spanning from the earliest stages of development to full-scale execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical industrialization and sustaining engineering efforts, guiding projects from initial innovation through to commercial launch.
• Formulate and implement a strategic multi-year roadmap for industrialization and sustaining engineering initiatives.
• Direct a global, cross-functional technical team to manage end-to-end technical operations.
• Ensure strong coordination and alignment among innovation, product, lifecycle, and technical development groups.
• Utilize design principles focused on manufacturing, assembly, industrialization, and lifecycle management.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices with other engineering departments.
• Manage supplier selection processes and ensure that supplier capabilities align with market requirements.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in science, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Possess substantial professional experience in the development, industrialization, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing of medical devices or combination products.
• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders across clinical, commercial, and technical domains.
• Exhibit advanced innovation capabilities, including the skill to influence external partners.
• Show deep expertise in industrialization and product sustaining management for complex systems.
• Have knowledge of quality standards, manufacturing equipment design and qualification, and process performance qualification.
• Bring experience in negotiating external contracts and managing partnerships.
