Modelling and Simulations Scientist ( 2 year contract)

Roche seeks a Modelling and Simulations Scientist for a two-year full-time role in Basel. The position focuses on developing mathematical models to support early-stage drug discovery and development.

This position is part of the translational Modelling and Simulation (tM&S) capability, supporting early research and development efforts. The primary objective is to deepen the understanding of disease biology and guide the selection of optimal molecules for further development stages.

Responsibilities

• Create multi-scale models for pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and toxicology by combining experimental data with literature evidence.
• Construct complex quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) models to forecast drug disposition and target attainment.
• Utilize mechanistic insights to analyze drug accumulation and establish PK/PD relationships.
• Expand modeling frameworks to cover combination therapies, antibody drug conjugates, and antibiotic PK/PD.
• Design and implement interactive tools using R and Shiny to aid in model exploration.
• Apply AI and Machine Learning techniques to improve predictive accuracy and automate data integration.
• Conduct rigorous parameter estimation using Bayesian methods and stochastic modeling techniques.
• Communicate findings clearly and promptly to project teams and senior management.

Requirements

• A PhD in natural sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, or engineering.
• Advanced programming proficiency in R and Python.
• Extensive experience in mechanistic modeling.
• A strong mathematical foundation applied to drug discovery.
• A strong lead author history of publications.
