One Doctoral Position embedded in an SNF-Project

The University of Zurich offers a part-time doctoral position within an SNF-funded project, focusing on digital health and biomedical research law. The role combines legal analysis, empirical research, and policy evaluation within an interdisciplinary team.

This position is part of an SNF-funded project and an interdisciplinary research group specializing in law, bioethics, and social sciences. The successful candidate will conduct advanced research and build a strong scientific profile in digital health and biomedical research.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing literature on legal developments in digital health and biomedical research in Switzerland and the EU.
  • Analyze theoretical concepts of data governance and their impact on lawmaking in digital health.
  • Select and analyze a specific case study of a Swiss digital health policy or regulated infrastructure.
  • Publish findings in academic journals and present results at workshops and conferences.
  • Write a cumulative doctoral dissertation based on individual articles developed during the PhD.
  • Attend basic doctoral training courses.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in law, health policy, and/or social sciences.
  • Willingness to pursue a PhD in law (or Biomedical Ethics and Law).
  • Experience with legal analysis and/or empirical work (especially conducting interviews).
  • Capacity to work in a team, organise own work, and interest in scientific writing.

Nice to have

  • Interest in policymaking in health.
  • Profiles in neighbouring disciplines (e.g. Science and Technology Studies, Public Health).
  • Knowledge of an official language of Switzerland (German, French or Italian).
