Two-Year Post-Doctoral Research Position in Research Group “Politics and Inequality” led by Thomas Kurer

The University of Zurich seeks a postdoctoral researcher for its Politics and Inequality group to lead survey experiments and coordinate the WELFAIR project work package.

This postdoctoral role supports the Politics and Inequality research group at the University of Zurich. The position focuses on advancing the WELFAIR project by managing its Swiss work package, conducting cross-national survey experiments, and producing research on welfare state reform and structural change.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute the Swiss work package tasks within the WELFAIR project, including communication with international partners.
  • Refine the conceptual and theoretical foundations of the work package.
  • Design, run, and analyze an original cross-national survey experiment.
  • Draft two working papers on attribution, structural change, and public support for welfare state reform alongside the principal investigator.
  • Support the project's research, organizational, and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • A PhD in political science or a closely related field, completed or nearing completion.
  • A strong interest in public opinion, welfare state politics, and the political effects of structural change.
  • The drive and capacity to generate high-quality, impactful research independently and within an international team.
  • Strong skills in quantitative research methods; prior experience with survey experiments is highly valued.
  • Fluency in English; a working knowledge of German is beneficial.
