Postdoctoral Researcher in Cross-Cultural Psycho-/Neurolinguistics

The University of Zurich seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in Cross-Cultural Psycho-/Neurolinguistics to lead experimental studies on language processing. This part-time, hybrid role involves global fieldwork under Professor Balthasar Bickel.

This position involves leading and developing experimental studies to investigate language processing, planning, and their cognitive backgrounds across diverse languages. The researcher will collaborate with the NCCR Work Package “Events” team and conduct experiments internationally under the supervision of Professor Balthasar Bickel.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead experimental studies focused on language processing and planning.
• Explore the cognitive foundations of language across a variety of languages.
• Utilize the NCCR’s global network of collaborations for research activities.
• Travel to various international locations to conduct field experiments.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in experimental methods and statistical data analysis within language science.
• Academic training in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, or linguistics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Prior experience conducting cross-cultural fieldwork.
• Interest in addressing evolutionary questions related to language.
