This position is part of the Professorship of Solid Mechanics at ETH Zurich’s Institute for Building Materials, which focuses on understanding how materials deform, degrade, and fail. The research integrates numerical modeling, lab experiments, and theory to connect microscopic processes with large-scale behavior in both engineered and natural systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on computational earthquake rupture mechanics, combining development of numerical methods with theoretical analysis.

Requirements

  • Solid academic foundation in computational mechanics or a related discipline.
  • High motivation, creativity, and ability to carry out independent research.
