PhD Position in Numerical Modelling of Debris Flows

This PhD position focuses on creating a new numerical model for debris flow simulation by combining solid and fluid mechanics. The goal is to use novel field data to validate the model and merge simulation outcomes with real-world observations to enhance scientific understanding of debris flow behavior.

Responsibilities

• Create a new numerical model for debris flow simulation using coupled solid and fluid mechanics principles
• Integrate recently collected field data to validate the developed model
• Merge simulation results with field observations to improve insights into debris flow dynamics

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering, Geophysics, or a related field
• Solid experience in numerical modelling
• Strong ability to communicate in English
