ABB Power Grids seeks a Project Manager for Primary Engineering in Zürich. The role involves leading technical planning for gas-insulated switchgear projects, ensuring quality and schedule adherence.
The company is looking for a professional to oversee the technical planning and execution of gas-insulated switchgear initiatives. This position focuses on delivering engineering outputs on time, within budget, and in compliance with established quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the primary engineering aspects of GIS customer projects, managing costs, timelines, and delivery scope.
- Align technical solutions with both client expectations and internal team requirements.
- Develop detailed technical specifications for the high-voltage components of gas-insulated switchgear.
- Generate necessary documentation for procurement, manufacturing, assembly, and final customer acceptance.
- Procure and configure materials specific to each project.
- Facilitate technical communication across internal departments and external partners.
- Address quality issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Offer technical assistance during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases until on-site assembly is finished.
- Travel occasionally for client meetings or site inspections.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Several years of experience in project engineering, preferably within gas-insulated switchgear or high-voltage systems.
- Solid grasp of engineering project execution, covering scope, schedule, cost, quality, documentation, and material ordering.
- Proficiency with CAD tools like Creo or AutoCAD, alongside SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify risks, resolve technical issues, and drive solutions.
- Experience coordinating internal and external stakeholders in an international setting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within international teams and across departments.
- Clear and structured communication skills, with confidence in technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Fluent English proficiency.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of German or another language is considered an advantage.
