Project Manager Secondary Engineering 80 – 100% (f/m/d)

ABB Power Grids seeks a Senior Project Manager for Secondary Engineering (80–100%) in Zürich. The role oversees LCC local control cabinet projects from sales handover through installation, ensuring technical and schedule compliance.

The company is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead secondary engineering initiatives for LCC local control cabinets. This position covers the entire project lifecycle from the sales handover through final installation, requiring close collaboration with primary engineering teams and oversight by the Commercial Project Manager for GIS projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee secondary engineering projects starting from the sales handover, managing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Collaborate with the Commercial Project Manager to align on project timelines, deliverables, and costs.
• Direct engineering tasks using the extended workbench for both base and detailed design phases.
• Identify project deviations and claims, resolve them with clients, and lead customer meetings.
• Secure design freeze and client approval, generate production documentation, and assist feeder or supplier factories during manufacturing.
• Perform final acceptance tests with clients, aid in site installation and commissioning, and prepare as-built documentation for project closure.
• Engage actively in project reporting frameworks, including the digital project board.
• Support sales and tender activities, and provide assistance to the production line.
• Participate in development projects and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in secondary project engineering and project management.
• Demonstrated financial and technical proficiency to execute secondary projects following internal guidelines.
• Fluent command of English.
• Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and self-management.
• Accountability for technical execution and adherence to standards and regulations, including ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001, while coordinating with upstream and downstream departments.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in German and additional languages is preferred.
• Familiarity with Zuken E3 software is advantageous.
