CERN offers a permanent, onsite post-doctoral fellowship in applied physics and engineering within the Experimental Physics Department. Candidates must hold a PhD, be a national of a CERN member state, and have limited post-doctoral research experience.
This fellowship supports post-doctoral research in applied physics and engineering within CERN's Experimental Physics Department. The programme helps identify suitable research projects, which are discussed and refined with the candidate upon retention of their profile.
Responsibilities
- Carry out post-doctoral research in applied physics and engineering.
- Help design, build, deploy, and operate physics experiments or experimental setups.
- Work alongside physicists, engineers, and technical experts on large-scale projects using advanced technologies.
- Participate in analyzing, documenting, and sharing results within experimental collaborations.
Requirements
- Hold a PhD in Applied Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrate a strong background in applied physics or engineering.
- Possess research experience in applied physics and engineering, preferably connected to designing, developing, or operating experimental systems.
- Be a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
- Have obtained a PhD or expect to do so within six months by the application deadline, with no more than three years of research experience since PhD completion.
- Demonstrate good proficiency in English or French.
Nice to have
- Research experience linked to designing, developing, or operating experimental systems.
- Candidates with up to six years of research experience may be exceptionally considered.
