Postdoctoral Fellow

The Paul Scherrer Institut seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research in condensed matter physics using muon spin spectroscopy and beta-NMR techniques at PSI and CERN.

This position is embedded within the beta-NMR group at ISOLDE / CERN. The successful candidate will focus on experimental research in condensed matter physics and materials science, utilizing both muon spin spectroscopy at PSI and beta-NMR methods at CERN.

Responsibilities

• Develop a beta-detected NMR spectrometer at the ISOLDE facility at CERN.
• Engineer a vacuum load-lock system specifically for the beta-NMR spectrometer.
• Conduct research in condensed matter physics and materials science using muon spin spectroscopy at PSI and beta-NMR at ISOLDE / CERN.
• Actively contribute to the growth and development of the beta-NMR group at ISOLDE / CERN.
• Participate actively in the MUONIVERSE collaboration.
• Share research findings through scientific publications and presentations at conferences.

Requirements

• Hold a PhD in Experimental Physics.
• Demonstrate extensive expertise in solid state physics, materials science, vacuum technology, and beta-NMR instrumentation.
• Possess practical experience with beta-NMR and muSR techniques.
• Have very good oral and written communication skills in English.
