The company seeks a Research Team Manager to lead a multidisciplinary Circuit Breaker research team at its Central European Hitachi Energy Research Center in Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland.
This role involves directing a specialized research group focused on interrupter technology. The manager will guide the team's strategic direction, ensure alignment with broader research objectives, and foster an environment of continuous learning and innovation within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Establish clear objectives and priorities to align team efforts with the wider research strategy.

- Develop team capabilities by planning resources, coaching engineers, and maintaining the group as a center of excellence.
- Supervise various research laboratories while upholding strict safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

- Join test campaigns and assume the role of electrical emergency first aider, with necessary training provided.
- Spearhead the development of new research proposals and strategic initiatives.
- Foster an inclusive and motivating atmosphere for all team members.
- Expand professional networks with internal business units and external academic institutions.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across all Hitachi Energy Research Centers.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (PhD) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Deep technical knowledge of circuit breakers, high power testing, and plasma physics, alongside a keen interest in emerging technologies.
- Multiple years of experience in industrial research and development, including demonstrated leadership of teams.
- Full professional proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

- Ability to communicate in German.
