This role leads satellite communications for high-speed, high-altitude autonomous vehicles, supporting a mission to transform the defense industry with advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. It plays a key part in advancing efficiency and technological leadership in defense operations.
Responsibilities
- Translate mission needs into communication system capabilities for advanced UAVs.
- Develop, analyze, and optimize link budgets for performance in challenging conditions.
- Model communication links and simulate system behavior to guide design and reduce risks.
- Design and implement signal processing and data algorithms to enhance system performance.
- Architect scalable, high-performing end-to-end communication solutions that evolve with technology.
- Lead system-level testing and validation to ensure readiness for mission deployment.
- Integrate advanced communication hardware like modems, antennas, and waveguides into flight platforms.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams in software, avionics, flight systems, and defense programs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and partners to align on specifications, ensure quality, and meet delivery timelines.
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of satellite communication systems, particularly RF and mmWave Satcom payloads.
- Strong knowledge of RF communication architectures, modulation methods, and waveform design.
- Solid grasp of radio propagation effects such as multipath, fading, link loss, and mitigation techniques.
- Practical experience in signal processing using Python or similar environments.
- Experience in system-level modeling and simulation to support early-stage design decisions.
- Ability to clearly and concisely document complex technical systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with encryption and data compression algorithms.
- Familiarity with multi-beam antennas and beamforming or resource allocation algorithms.
