SPIRE AG seeks a Senior RF Engineer to design, test, and optimize RF subsystems for satellite communication and aerospace applications in a hybrid role based in Switzerland.
This position supports the development of next-generation proprietary communication systems. The successful candidate will focus on designing, analyzing, and optimizing advanced RF subsystems specifically tailored for satellite and aerospace environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating RF subsystems for satellite communication, navigation, or monitoring systems.
- Select components and perform circuit-level design using PCB software and simulation platforms.
- Oversee RF modules through both production and testing phases.
- Execute bench, environmental, and spacecraft-level testing to identify and resolve faults.
- Lead validation, testing, and space qualification activities for current and new systems.
- Create test plans and define operational procedures.
- Provide technical support and consultancy to software, payload, operations, and manufacturing teams.
Requirements
- BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in Telecommunications, Microwave, or RF Electronics Engineering.
- Minimum of five years of experience in RF system design, development, and testing.
- Practical experience with RF simulation, design, manufacturing, and fault-finding during testing.
- Ability to perform PCB schematic capture and layout for RF circuits.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory or field RF testing using equipment like Network Analyzers, Signal Analyzers, and Signal Generators.
- Skill in measuring passive and active circuit performance to validate system requirements.
- Capability to tune RF circuits for optimal performance.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as ADS, CST, HFSS, and MATLAB.
- Competence in scripting languages and testing tools, with Python preferred.
Nice to have
- Strong background in high-frequency RF systems, such as Ku-band or Ka-band.
- Experience with end-to-end RF system analysis, simulation, and optimization.
- Knowledge of frequency spectrum management.
- Familiarity with advanced RF analog and high-speed digital signal processing techniques using Xilinx/AMD MPSoC/RFSoC.
- Experience in passive and active antenna design and measurement techniques.
- Background in power supply design and EMI mitigation.
- Experience in digital circuit design, including microcontrollers, FPGAs, and high-speed transceivers.
