Sonova seeks an RF Design Engineer in Murten to develop wireless hearing technologies. The role covers the full product lifecycle from concept to certification within an international R&D team.
This position sits within the Electronic Systems & RF team at Sonova, focusing on the creation of advanced wireless solutions for hearing aids. The engineer will guide projects from initial concept through to final product integration and regulatory certification, contributing to an environment that values collaboration and continuous professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Establish technical requirements for RF components, including circuitry and antenna systems.
- Design, refine, and validate PCB antennas and RF circuits throughout the development process.
- Develop verification strategies and test plans to ensure the reliability and performance of RF modules.
- Conduct simulations to assess antenna and transceiver behavior using specialized software.
- Assist in the creation and validation of next-generation wireless communication platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to EMI, RF compliance, and system integration.
- Coordinate with external laboratories to manage RF certification and ensure successful product qualification.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders on feasibility studies and future technology assessments.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated background in RF design within research and development settings, including antenna work and wireless systems.
- Proficiency with RF simulation tools like ADS and CST Studio Suite.
- Practical experience operating RF lab equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and antenna measurement systems.
- Ability to design analog electronic circuits and PCB-based RF solutions.
- Knowledge of wireless standards including Bluetooth, ISM (2.4 GHz), and low-power systems.
- Strong analytical abilities and a structured, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Fluent proficiency in written and spoken English.

- Proficiency in German or French.
