Destinusgroup in Zürich seeks a Senior RF Design Engineer to design the RF backbone of next-generation digital radar systems, working within a multidisciplinary team focused on aerospace innovations for defense applications.
This role focuses on developing the RF core of advanced digital radar systems, translating system requirements into high-performance hardware optimized for strict size, weight, power, and cost targets. It is part of a team advancing radar technologies for defense applications, with potential to contribute to system modeling and architecture definition.
Responsibilities
- Design RF and analog circuits for radar receivers and transmitters using circuit and electromagnetic simulation tools
- Lead reviews of circuit designs to ensure quality and alignment with specifications
- Choose components suitable for PCB implementation of RF circuits
- Guide PCB engineers in implementing the designed circuits
- Perform post-layout analysis and provide feedback to improve PCB design
- Align simulation models with real-world measurements to refine future iterations
- Assist in creating test plans at component, circuit, and system levels
- Support the definition of system-level requirements
- Possibility to contribute to system simulation and architecture development
Requirements
- Solid knowledge of RF building blocks in receivers and transmitters, including LNAs, PAs, mixers, antennas, filters, and transmission lines
- Experience with RF and analog circuit simulation
- Ability to design and simulate digital and clock signal paths
- In-depth understanding of RF PCB design, microstrip structures, matching networks, and antennas
- Familiarity with common receiver and transmitter architectures
- Understanding of key RX and TX performance metrics
- Hands-on experience with 3D electromagnetic simulation
- Proficiency with MWO or ADS simulation tools
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication abilities
