ANYbotics seeks a Senior PCB Layout Designer in Zurich to manage complex multi-layer board designs, lead ECAD tool migration, and ensure high-quality hardware production standards.
This role acts as the critical link between schematic concepts and manufacturable hardware, allowing electrical engineers to concentrate on circuit design while you optimize the physical design pipeline for scalability. You will join a team of over 200 professionals working on advanced robotics technology.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete PCB layout lifecycle for complex multi-layer boards across active product lines.
- Maintain the electronics component library in InvenTree, ensuring accurate metadata, symbols, and footprints.
- Lead the evaluation and migration to a new industry-standard ECAD software tool.
- Review layout designs from internal engineers and external contractors to uphold strict design standards.
- Develop and update corporate EDRC guidelines for routing, stack-ups, and constraints.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and EMS partners to optimize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) for both prototypes and serial production.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with at least five years of experience in electronics design for industrial applications.
- Expert proficiency in at least one major ECAD tool, such as Altium, KiCad, or Cadence.
- Proven experience designing complex multi-layer PCBs that meet functional safety and EMI/EMC compliance standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of signal integrity, high-speed routing, controlled impedance, length matching, and return path optimization.
- Extensive experience with DFM/DFA constraints and direct collaboration with EMS partners for hardware productization.
- Commitment to rigorous library management, component creation, and database cleanliness.
- Proactive attitude with the ability to make clear technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with rigid-flex PCB designs or layout techniques for wireless technologies.
- Background in Explosion-proof (Ex-protection) electronics design for hazardous environments.
- Prior involvement in company-wide ECAD tool or library migration projects.
- Experience in electronics for aerospace, military, or highly ruggedized industrial equipment.
