ANYbotics seeks a Senior Electronics Engineer in Zürich to lead the design and production of high-complexity PCBAs for its autonomous mobile robots, ensuring reliability in harsh industrial environments.

The company is looking for an expert to take full technical responsibility for the electronic architecture of its ANYmal robots. This position involves guiding complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies from initial concept through to ruggedized production, ensuring the hardware meets the rigorous demands of autonomous inspection in challenging settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assume complete technical accountability for the development and lifecycle of one or two critical, high-complexity PCBAs.
  • Manage the entire PCBA development workflow, including system architecture, schematic design, layout, prototyping, debugging, and final handover to manufacturing.
  • Analyze and streamline the existing PCBA portfolio across all ANYmal product lines to improve overall system efficiency and architecture.
  • Define and enforce strict test specifications and verification protocols to guarantee quality during the productization phase.
  • Partner with systems engineers and other cross-functional groups to ensure seamless integration of electronic components into the robotic units.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of engineering quality within the electrical engineering team.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, accompanied by a minimum of seven years of practical experience in developing electronic boards for industrial, aerospace, or military sectors.
  • Mastery of standard ECAD tools such as KiCad or Altium, along with simulation software like SPICE.
  • Demonstrated ability to design complex layouts that adhere to strict creepage, clearance, and isolation rules for safety-critical systems.
  • Extensive background in designing hardware for harsh environments, with strong knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance and functional safety regulations.
  • Deep expertise in debugging, verification processes, and establishing testing specifications for manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in at least two of the following: Battery Management Systems (BMS), power electronics or motor drives, high-speed interfaces (such as USB, EtherCAT, or WiFi), or MCU-based embedded systems.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in designing explosion-proof (Ex-protection) electronics or equipment for hazardous areas.
  • Background in wireless electronics design or Edge AI Compute Hardware.
  • Direct work experience within the robotics or autonomous systems industry.
  • Familiarity with InvenTree or similar modern tools for component and inventory management.
